Dina Boluarte denied knowing the operative plans applied by the Armed Forces and the Police

Insufficient answers and silences stand out in today's headlines about the statement of Peru's coup President Dina Boluarte to the Public Prosecutor's Office, as she is under investigation for the deaths in the repression of protests against her post.

Lima.- So was highlighted by several media outlets reporting leaks of the president’s statement on Tuesday, behind closed doors, in the framework of a preliminary investigation for genocide, aggravated homicide, and other possible charges.

The president’s lawyer Joseph Campos assured that Boluarte only answered questions from the Prosecutor’s Office. The head of Government refused to reply to questions of the state prosecutor’s office, and those asked by lawyers of the victims’ families because she considered that they should not participate in the hearing.

According to journals, Boluarte denied knowing the operative plans applied by the Armed Forces and the Police since this was not within her faculties, noting that the presidency is not executive and does not make such decisions being the Council of Ministers that does so.

On Tuesday, the impressive police security deployment stood out, which kept reporters and pedestrians at bay; however, it could not prevent a group of citizens from protesting against Boluarte with slogans and posters. (PL)
