Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the introduction of the digital ruble and the creation of the corresponding electronic platform, the official legal information website published.

Moscow.- According to the communication, the law, which will come into force on August 1, 2023, establishes an additional form of the Russian national currency, which will be issued alongside existing forms of money, and thus the ruble will now have three variants: cash, cashless and digital.

Transactions with the new monetary format will be possible with the use of the digital ruble platform, a special information system, the operator of which will be the Bank of Russia.

The document establishes that the digital ruble will be used as a means of payment and transfer.

The possibility of opening a deposit or obtaining a loan in digital rubles is not envisaged.

Ordinary customers are expected to pay nothing for transfers or disbursements in the new currency, while companies will be obliged to pay the Central Bank of Russia 0.3 percent of the amount transferred. (PL)
