Packages with electoral material for different regions will leave Quito in a staggered manner.

The distribution of ballots and other documents for the presidential and legislative elections of August 20 in Ecuador began today, according to the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Quito.- This Sunday morning, 2,711 packages left for the six Amazonian provinces of Napo, Orellana, Morona Santiago, Pastaza, Sucumbíos, and Zamora Chinchipe.

The remaining packages with electoral material for other regions of the country will leave Quito in a staggered manner.

Armed Forces will be in charge of the transfer and will be tracked by GPS until they arrive at the electoral warehouses in each territory, the CNE indicated.

More than 13 million Ecuadorians are summoned to the polls in two weeks to elect president, vice-president, and assembly members, in early elections due to the cross-death decree of President Guillermo Lasso, who dissolved the Legislative and brought forward the end of his mandate.

During these days the candidates are intensifying the campaign in search of votes with tours in the provinces and interviews in local media.

Among the eight aspirants to the presidency of the Executive, Luisa Gonzalez, of the Revolucion Ciudadana movement, remains as leader of the polls with proposals that seek "security, work and welfare" to recover the Homeland. (PL)
