Türkiye President and AK Party leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was reelected leader of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in Türkiye on Saturday, during the 4th Extraordinary Congress of the organization.

Ankara.- Of 1,402 party delegates, 1,399 voted for his reelection, the remaining three were null votes, Anatolia news agency reported.

The Congress was held at Ankara's Sports Palace and was presided over by Chairman Ihsan Yavuz.

We will uproot the artful activities that are aimed to destroy our national structure, the institution, and family’s values by supporting degenerate movements,” Erdogan said.

Erdogan won a runoff election for Türkiye's presidency in May, confirming predictions that he was favored over his rival, Kemal Kilicdaroglu. (PL)
