UNRWA provide assistance and protection for registered Palestine refugees.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry on Monday called on the international community to intensify the efforts to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Beirut.- In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs emphasized the need for the UNRWA to carry out its humanitarian missions towards Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and neighboring countries.

The Ministry stressed that there is no alternative to the UNRWA, founded after the failure of the two-state solution 75 years ago, and its role will inevitably end with the implementation of this resolution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

In this regard, the Foreign Ministry recalled the agency’s accumulated experience and expertise over the years, especially in Lebanon, and its capability of assisting Palestinian refugees in the country.

Incidentally, the Ministry appreciated some countries’ decision to resume or increase their aid to the UNRWA and insisted that these resources provide hope for the survival of the Palestinian people and restore confidence in the ability of the United Nations to support and protect the refugees.

On this issue, Lebanese diplomacy considered that supporting the UNRWA is an investment in building a better future for the Palestinian people. (PL)
