In Venezuela, authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE) presented late Sunday the first official bulletin of the regional and municipal elections held in the South American nation, in which the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) won 20 of the 23 governorships in dispute.

Caracas.- The president of the CNE, Pedro Calzadilla, informed that there was a 41.80 percent participation of registered voters, representing 8,151,793 citizens.

In addition, with the transmission of 90.21 percent of the records, he specified that the candidates of the PSUV won the majority of the Governorships in the country, as well as the Mayor's Office of Caracas (capital city).

According to the figures provided by the President of the CNE, the Governorships were distributed as follows:

PSUV: Amazonas (40.16 percent), Anzoátegui (45.98 percent), Apure (43.33 percent), Aragua (51.76 percent), Barinas (42.10 percent), Carabobo (54.94 percent).

The electoral body enabled 21,159,846 Venezuelans to go to the voting centers and elect their representatives to 3,082 public offices.

On Sunday, Venezuelans voted to elect 23 governors, 335 mayors, 253 legislators, and more than 2,471 councilmen. Next November 26, indigenous peoples will elect their representatives. (RHC)
