Members of the Dominican Public Prosecutor's Office, supported by the Armed Forces and intelligence agencies, today raided places linked to a money-laundering network that smuggled money in the interior of loudspeakers.

Santo Domingo.- The authorities deployed ten operations, seven in Santiago province, two in Santo Domingo and one in Punta Cana, La Altagracia province.

Although details of the operation are still awaited, so far five persons have been arrested in these operations, one of them the alleged ringleader whose name was not disclosed.

As a background, the authorities recalled that in August 2020, $ 2. 174 750 dollars were seized inside three speakers during an operation carried out in the Port of Haina Oriental, in Santo Domingo province. (PL)
