Social workers of Manatí continue to bring food to the assisted

In the first week, they took on the work with the same commitment they had left Cuba to attend to various programs of the economy.

Manatí, Las Tunas.- The first month they already knew and looked forward to it. Today, the social workers of Manatí continue to bring food to the assisted, not as a duty, but with the joy of contributing to the fight against the COVID-19.

Yajannis Herrera Wong, deputy director of Prevention, Assistance and Social Work (PATS in Spanish) in the territory, assures that her mission has been to protect vulnerable people and groups in the current epidemiological context.

The directive assures that more than 400 inhabitants, mostly elderly, are guaranteed lunch and food delivery to prevent them from going to the family's markets.
In addition to the 14 active workers in the municipality, neighbors and staff from other organizations have changed their jobs to help the needy.

Herrera Wong points out that the reduced number of social workers is a hindrance to the PATS group in Manatí since they attend to priority tasks such as providing food services and handing out checkbooks in the communities. However, this limitation will not prevent them from continuing to contribute to the battle against the new coronavirus.
