Meeting of the Provincial Defense Council

The Provincial Defense Council in Las Tunas conveyed congratulations to the organizations and workers who labored hard in the activities planned last Sunday for Mother's Day.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This was announced in the meeting of the management body on Monday, in which they especially recognized the workers of Communal Services for the arduous effort in the conditioning of the cemeteries and the explanation through the media on the causes of non-entry to them related to the preventive measures against the COVID-19.

That was determinant on incidents that would not be reported due to the change in one of the greatest traditions of the homage of families to the deceased mothers. The placing of a wreath in front of each graveyard as a collective homage to them also highlighted.

The mechanisms used to sell flowers and bouquets in different places to facilitate the tribute for mothers were praised as well.

At other moments of the meeting, the measures implemented to continue reducing the danger of the COVID-19 were specified, with an emphasis on the tasks in the isolation centers.

When addressing the food supply, they insisted on the need to redouble efforts in the fulfillment of deliveries of agricultural products for distribution to the population in the respective neighborhoods; monitoring the distribution of modules of the food industries through the network of regular stores. In particular, they checked the sale of malt with the interest that it reaches as many families as possible.

They also considered that rains are still few and not the same volume in all the municipalities, but they begin favoring some reservoirs while make it possible the large sowing of various crops with an emphasis on those of short cycle, starting in July, to reverse the situation of shortages in May and June.
