"Amancio" ended September with the highest rate of autochthonous positives per 100,000 inhabitants

An unprecedented closure of non-essential services is in effect since this Tuesday in the municipality of Amancio, to stop the growing number of cases of the new coronavirus detected in that territory.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- With the consent of the provincial authority, the Temporary Group for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 in that town indicated that all non-essential economic activities and services have been paralyzed. Citizen mobility was also reduced to a minimum, establishing sanitary control points in the accesses with the neighboring municipality of Colombia and the province of Camagüey.

Only, the governing body specified, the Health services associated with Primary Care, vaccination, research, and others linked to the fight against the pandemic are maintained; as well as medical emergencies. The external pharmacy of the local hospital continues to work 24 hours a day. "In case of entry of drugs, the sale will be prolonged, prioritizing those controlled for two days, increasing use of couriers," he added.

Transportation has been limited to the transfer of health workers and patients, along with contracts with the agencies that maintain their operations. The commercial network is exclusively dedicated to the sale of milk, bread, and meat, according to the established cycle by the distribution scheme of the basic basket, and the modules offered by Cimex and Caribe store chains. The gastronomic network, for its part, only places its products in the communities designated by the Municipal Administration Council; something similar happens with agricultural assortments."

The Community Services Company focuses on obituary services and solid waste collection, street cleaning, and green areas. For its part, the Aqueduct and Sewerage Company continues with the distribution of water in tanker trucks and the evacuation of septic tanks; plus the reading and charging of their services and the repair of hydraulic networks.

Regarding other places that attract crowds of people, the Temporary Group indicated that the sale of liquefied gas is from Monday to Friday until 11:00 in the morning, with priority for couriers; the reading and charging of the electric service continues; of telecommunications, only the sales of coupons to authorized agents continue; the Post Office does the same, exclusively through its postal agents and postmen. Banks carry out deposit and salary extraction operations between 9:00 and 11:00 in the morning, from Monday to Saturday.

COVID-19 in Las Tunas

"Amancio" ended September with the highest rate of autochthonous positives per 100,000 inhabitants (5,595.1) of all Las Tunas municipalities, by notifying 2,117 cases in the same period, which in turn is the highest detected there since the start of the pandemic, in March 2020.

It also registered the highest number of reported deaths by COVID-19 in a month. To cope with the tense situation, material and human resources have been mobilized from the provincial capital, in whose isolation centers inhabitants from the westernmost of Las Tunas municipalities are admitted, who are contacts of positive or suspected cases of the new coronavirus.
