Havana, Cuba.- The start-up of a generator in the town of La Palma guarantees the service in all the municipal capitals of the territory, in addition to the presence of power workers from the provinces of Holguin, Mayabeque, Matanzas, and Artemisa.

Likewise, the region known as Vueltabajo has so far 89,071 houses affected, after the impact of the category 3 hurricane, a figure that represents nearly half of Pinar del Río’s housing stock.

More than 6,200 people remain evacuated in private homes or centers arranged for this purpose, such as educational institutions, and are expected to be moved this week to resume classes for this school year.

Regarding the education sector, 17 schools have not yet resumed the academic year in any of its variants and up to midday on Monday the western territory announced the restitution of 85.3 percent of land telephony and 89 percent of mobile telephony.

For his part, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero acknowledged in his profile on Twitter the progress in the recovery actions and emphasized the need to speed up the procedures associated with housing, the solution of the electric damage, water supply, and food processing. (PL)
