Cuban leader Raúl Castro met the Iranian president

The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, received on Thursday the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, who is making an official visit to our country.

Havana, Cuba.- The dialogue took place in an atmosphere of friendship and respect, typical of the ties that both countries have maintained for more than 40 years.

The Army general thanked the Iranian government for its support in Cuba's struggle against the unjust economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the largest island of the Antilles; while stressing that both nations have been able to defend their independence and sovereignty.

The cordial exchange reaffirmed the willingness of Cuba and Iran to continue strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation, as well as high-level political dialogue.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez accompanied the Army General in this meeting. (Granma)
