During the meeting with the presidents of the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power on Monday, Gil Fernandez said that  growth is possible.Cuba's deputy prime minister and head of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández affirmed that the country has real possibilities to reach the four percent gross domestic product growth forecast this year.

Havana, Cuba.- During the meeting with the presidents of the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power on Monday, Gil Fernandez said that although Cuba is recovering from a 13 percent drop and is still far from the activity levels of 2018, growth is possible.

He said that this requires the efficient implementation of the 158 measures approved as part of the Economic and Social Strategy for 2022.

He added that in the three months elapsed; a gradual recovery can be seen in exports of goods and the production of specific agricultural lines.

At the meeting, headed by the President of the Parliament, Esteban Lazo Hernández, with President Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero in attendance, Gil Fernández reiterated the objectives of the Plan for 2022.

Among them, he mentioned progress in the macroeconomic stabilization process, the recovery of the role of the national currency in the financial system, and the rationality of the prices of products and services, particularly the most sensitive ones.

In addition, to prioritize the attention to persons, households, and communities in vulnerable situations; to transform the state entrepreneurial system, the main subject of the economic model, and decentralize the competencies in the function of greater autonomy in the municipalities. (RHC)
