President Díaz-Canel presided over the National Defense Council to asses prevention measures

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel continues to monitor the trajectory of Hurricane Rafael, which is expected to hit the Island this afternoon as a Category 3 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

The Electric Union will interrupt the electric service in the territories affected by Hurricane Rafael starting today, to avoid accidents due to the wind-force increase of the hydrometeorological phenomenon.

Hurricane Rafael is expected to hit Cuba as a Category 3 storm.

 

Hurricane Rafael's maximum sustained winds increased to 175 kilometers per hour (km/h) and it could enter Cuba today as a Category 3 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
