Singer-songwriters Freddy Laffita, Richard Gómez, Amaury del Río, and Jesús Pérez Cecilia participated from January 5 in the 27th edition of the Longina Canta a Corona Festival (Longina Sings to Corona Festival).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The event, based in the city of Santa Clara was dedicated, on this occasion, to the creator from Cienfuegos Lázaro García, the 50th anniversary of the Nueva Trova Movement, and the 25th anniversary of La Trovuntivitis, a bastion of the song in the country.

The troubadours from Las Tunas repeated their participation in the festival that has always welcomed their art, under the auspices of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Villa Clara.

On Friday the 6th, in the courtyard of the José Martí Provincial Library, Freddy Laffita, Richard Gómez, and Amaury del Río performed in concert, while Pérez Cecilia did so on the opening day at the Casa del Joven Creador (Young Creator Cultural Center).

The program also hosted presentations by artists Eduardo Sosa, José Aquiles, Roly Berrío, and Augusto Blanc; as well as Ariel Barreiros, Nelson Valdés, and Marcos David Fernández.

Pérez Cecilia shared on social media: "Almost a year after my first visit, I find myself wanting to fly the guitar in that magical land that is Santa Clara; the 'Longina' is a source of clear waters, a balm to the ears of the soul, something ineffable for those who have tasted its lights.”

The festival reached different municipalities and also featured theoretical events such as the conference on Lázaro García, given by the critic and researcher Joaquín Borges-Triana, who for years has accompanied the meeting of troubadours.

The event concluded this Monday, January 9, with the traditional pilgrimage to the tomb of the renowned composer and musician Manuel Corona, in the Villa Clara municipality of Caibarién.
