A preliminary study of the regulations was presented and workers gave their opinions on the legal system.

A debate session on the draft labor code brought together workers at the José Martí Provincial Library, as part of the national consultation process convened to submit the proposal to the opinion of labor groups.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The draft bill, presented by the authorities, proposes updating current labor legislation to bring it into line with recent socioeconomic changes, and the consultation process is being carried out with the aim of incorporating input from the workers themselves before its final approval.

A preliminary study of the regulations was presented and workers gave their opinions on the legal system.This morning, accompanied by the director of the Provincial Library, Armando López Carralero, and representatives of that group, they presented the preliminary study of the regulations and collectively gave their opinions on the legal system.

During the debate, the organizer of the provincial culture union, Liliana Domínguez Téllez, explained to the group the labor rights and duties dictated by the new labor code, as well as the benefits in all labor sectors. The meeting served as a starting point for a thorough analysis of the document, which, after its final approval, will govern labor relations in the country.

Participants raised concerns about new developments, such as facilitating access to employment for pregnant women, provided they meet the requirements for the position applied for, as well as the recognition of rights related to unpaid leave, a right of workers and employees in specific situations where the consent of the administration is not mandatory.

This draft Labor Code, which is being discussed in labor collectives throughout Cuba, is an opportunity for workers to suggest modifications, always for the benefit of those who identify with the document and are committed to its approval.
