Schools get ready to receive the students

On September 1st, more than 83 thousand students from Las Tunas will return to classrooms, to resume the 2019-2020 school year, a stage marked by compliance with hygienic-sanitary measures in the confrontation with the COVID-19. 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Jorge Luis Reyes Izaguirre, deputy director of Provincial Directorate of Education, told the Cuban News Agency that the 642 educational institutions of the territory will continue the school period, and the staff will exceed 10 thousand teachers.

He explained that during the months of September and October all levels of education will carry out diagnoses to evaluate the activities that were taught between March and July in teleclasses, then the contents received will be consolidated and deepened and later, the final evaluations will be carried out, starting from the oriented integrating seminars.

Regarding compliance with hygienic measures, he affirmed that it is a priority of the sector to maximize the requirements for their observance, with the aim of preventing the appearance and spread of COVID-19 in schools.

He assured that the use of the facemask will be strictly enforced for students, teachers, and staff in general; chlorine is guaranteed for the disinfection of hands, surfaces and for footsteps; the usual areas of interaction will be frequently sanitized, and the entry of relatives to the institutions will be limited.

Reyes Izaguirre stressed that the study material base to resume the 2019-2020 school year is in the hands of the students and, after returning to classes next September, each educational center will carry out an inventory to verify the teaching material they have.
