According to the schedule, the actions will have their main setting in waiting rooms of family doctor's offices, polyclinics, maternity homes and gyneco-obstetric hospitals. Likewise, representatives of the Primary Health Care and the Federation of Cuban Women will carry out interventions in the communities.

The early initiation strategy for breastfeeding will be updated as part of the Child and Mother-Friendly hospital initiative. In addition, maternity offices and homes with this condition will be updated.

Within the week, the strategic alliance workshop with organizations, sectors and civil society stands out to strengthen association and ties between sectors and encourage family and social support for breastfeeding.

Breast milk is the ideal and most complete food for the newborn; it is available 24 hours a day at the right temperature and with the necessary nutrients. Its contributions are also reflected in the mother, the family and the society.

The World Health Organization recommends exclusively breastfeeding infants for the first six months and continuing breastfeeding with appropriate complementary foods until they are 2 years of age or older.
