Nomination of candidates for municipal election is underway in Las Tunas

More than 400 thousand voters in the province of Las Tunas must participate in the assembly process of nomination of candidates for delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power, which began in the eight municipalities.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In the 668 constituencies of this eastern territory, some 2,380 meetings will be held, in which the voters will make their proposals, and the one that reaches the most votes will be nominated, under the premise that candidates should be those who can best represent the interests of the population.

Martha Rodríguez Martínez, the president of the Provincial Electoral Council, said that one candidate must be nominated in each area, and the constituencies can have up to eight nomination areas.

She explained that the coordination of the plans has been made, which will guarantee the successful development of these meetings, which include the means of transport, information and communication technology, and other necessary resources.

The biographies with the photos of the candidates will be prepared and published in the most popular places in communities when the nomination process is finished.

The electoral authorities, supervisors, members of the auxiliary information processing groups, computer specialists, and support staff of state bodies and other entities responsible for organizing and guiding the process are complete.

The nomination of candidates, which extends until November 11, is a very important step that guarantees the electoral process on Sunday 27 of that month, in which the population will exercise a free, direct, and secret vote in each of the polling stations that will work in the province.

The National Assembly of the People’s Power, through Agreement 406 of August 25, 2022, convened the elections, which are organized, directed, and supervised by the National Electoral Council, in compliance with the Constitution and the Electoral Law of the Republic of Cuba.
