Municipal elections in Las Tunas

Until the most recent part of the Las Tunas Provincial Electoral Commission, 25.28 percent of the expected voters had exercised their right to vote in the 1,259 polling stations in the territory.

President of the Provincial Electoral Commission reports to the pressLas Tunas, Cuba.- Martha Rodríguez, the president of the election body, highlighted the value of the organizational process, the experience of working on these issues, and the fact that no incidents have been reported throughout the territory.

She said that all the polling stations opened at 7:00 a.m. and will remain open until 6:00 p.m., and recalled that citizens must vote in their permanent residence place, regardless of where they are registered by their I.D.

That is because this is a vote that requires in-depth knowledge of the neighborhood, to choose whoever is truly capable of addressing the most pressing concerns and needs of the community.

The official also explained that there are 123 constituencies in the province that have more than two candidates and those are more likely to need a second round; because to be elected, nominees need to have more than half of the valid votes.

Martha Rodríguez emphasized that go the polls is the most important thing to know that one is well represented in the governance structures and highlighted the discipline and awareness of the people of Las Tunas that, amid a complex panorama, are zealously coming to endorse revolutionary democracy.
