Second electoral round was held in Las Tunas

Some 34 percent of the voters had gone to the polls at the close of the first hours of the electoral runoff to select the delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power in the 74 constituencies whose candidates did not reach the necessary votes last Sunday.

This was announced to 26 by Martha Rodríguez, the president of the Provincial Electoral Council while highlighting the calm that has reigned in the communities involved in this second round of the elections in the eight municipalities.

The official stressed that the 166 polling stations opened their doors early in the morning, with the necessary conditions, the presence of all the electoral authorities, and the pioneers that guard the ballot boxes with discipline, as usual.

She said that polls will remain open until 6:00 pm and that the scrutiny will again be public; likewise, she recognized the constant work of those who govern the process at the base and since the results of the first round were announced have been working tirelessly to guarantee the quality and participation of the people in this exercise of citizen democracy.
