Pilgrimage to honor the heroes and martyrs of the Revolution on December 7, 2022

The member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in Las Tunas, Manuel Pérez Gallego, shared on his Facebook account images of the pilgrimage, this morning, in honor of the 113 people from Las Tunas who died in the internationalist struggles against apartheid.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The photos were accompanied by a message that reads: "Honoring the fallen in internationalist missions, and also Maceo and the young Panchito, is the way to continue making history in these times and to maintain the legacy that Homeland is Humanity.”

His feeling is that of thousands of people. Many inhabitants of Las Tunas, as usual, every December 7 since 1989, went on a pilgrimage from the center of the city to the local cemetery to honor the martyrs, accompany the pain of the family, and remind the new generations of the immense pride for the children who gave everything, even their lives, in other lands defending freedom from internationalism.

The morning drizzle mixed with the endless crying of the mothers, the flower wreaths of the people, and the music, always an accomplice of the ardor of the Homeland.

The youngsters ratified their commitment; it was also remembered that it is the date of the birth of Frank País, the Baptist teacher assassinated in Santiago de Cuba, who wanted the Revolution to triumph so he could return to the classroom, to teach.

Today is also the 126th anniversary of the death of Lieutenant-General Antonio Maceo and his personal assistant Panchito Gómez Toro. A day, without a doubt, to revere history and not allow ourselves to forget.
