The 1,200 polling stations in Las Tunas remain active with total normality on this elections day, to select the deputies to the National Assembly of the People's Power.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Martha Rodríguez Martínez, the president of the Provincial Electoral Council (CEP) confirmed that, until the most recent report issued in the territory, the participation figures place Las Tunas with a voting turnout above the national average.

She also said that five special electoral schools are opened for those who are far from their places of residence or present some exceptional situation. Two of them are located at the Ernesto Guevara general teaching hospital and one per capita in the Railway Station and the Mártires de Las Tunas pediatric hospital. The latter is set at the Guillermo Domínguez general teaching hospital, in the municipality of Puerto Padre.

Likewise, Rodríguez Martínez explained that the conditions have been created so that those who are passing through the inter-municipal terminals can access the nearest polling stations and exercise their right; as well as people who need to vote in their places of residence.

The official confirmed that voting centers were expected to close at 6:00 p.m. but the National Electoral Council decided to extend the voting hours until 7:00. She also called on the population to join the count if they so wish because it is public and completely transparent.
