Manuel René Pérez Gallego, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Las Tunas

"Together, we are going to build a better country", declared today Manuel René Pérez Gallego, first secretary of the Party in Las Tunas, after casting his vote at polling station number 1, of constituency 5, located in the Basic Secondary School "José Sacramento", in La Aguilera neighborhood.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- He also invited more than 389 thousand voters to go to the polls and exercise this citizen right conquered since 1959 and of which one of the most lucid expressions of transparency is precise that those who guard the ballot boxes are the pioneers.

Manuel René Pérez Gallego, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Las Tunas"My reasons are my children, my family, my comrades, and our people," he said while emphasizing the personal and popular commitment to continue the development of the country, based on the united strength of all Cubans. Our people are patriotic, firm, dignified, and revolutionary people and we will continue in the construction of the Socialist Revolution", he stressed.

When questioned about what kind of deputy Cuba needs today, he answered that, in the first place, it must be someone who loves Cuba and has a vocation of service. "For those of us who are candidates, to be so is a source of pride and the most important thing is to know that we represent a people who need to be heard and have their concerns and experiences transmitted. We need, from our responsibilities, a permanent link with the population.

"If elected, the commitment will be greater, as should be the exchange with the voters and the search for solutions to the problems," he said.

Electoral day in Cuba, once again, a day to build futures on a road that has not been cleared but that we will have to build with unity in diversity, with love for our history, with firmness in the defense of sovereignty, with the certainty that the Homeland comes before everything else.

In this hour, Fidel's words come back, as so many times full of wisdom and truth: "It happens to the Revolution that when it had already done many things when it had achieved extraordinary accomplishments, now it has to fight to save what it did, now it has to fight to survive as a Revolution (...)."
