Revitalization of the society, a goal in Las Tunas municipality

To contribute to the socio-cultural dynamization of the municipality of Las Tunas, with approaches of justice and equity, it is necessary a systematic work led by the Administration Council, together with all the entities, agencies, and organizations that have to do with the fulfillment of that objective.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Right now, for example, there is a high rate of pending requests for childcare centers from working mothers, and what can be done to respond to this problem when the institutions dedicated to the care and training of children are not enough and, of course, the capacity is limited because of the demand?

Building a childcare center is difficult because it implies many resources that are scarce now. So why not conceive and materialize children's houses in facilities that have a minimum of conditions to achieve it? Three playhouses created so far, all in the educational sector, are too few.

According to a report of the Administration Council in the municipality of Las Tunas, for future school years, the opening of two centers of this type is projected in the Education sector itself: one in the community of Bartle and another one at Kilometer 2 ½ of the Jobabo road; four in Public Health and one in the Sugar Company, in addition to the expansion of two classrooms in seven childcare centers. Undoubtedly, these figures are still insufficient and very distant in time, taking into account that 1,416 working mothers have applied for them.

In the social order, there are also three maternity homes in the municipality with an occupancy rate of 79.7 percent, and a joint intervention strategy has been defined in these buildings to provide solutions to minor rehabilitation and maintenance actions, mainly in the water and sanitary networks.

As part of the fulfillment of the goals and actions carried out by this locality to respond to the current economic, social, and political situation, special attention is also paid to the Carlos Font Pupo Nursing Home, with 202 approved beds and an occupancy rate of 95.06 percent, and two grandparents' homes that protect 85 people.
