Following a weather event, recovery efforts must begin. In our province, directors of various sectors have started implementing an action plan to restore essential services, with special attention to fuel distribution and water supply for the population.

Las Tunas, Cuba. – José Luis Mora, director of the Las Tunas Territorial Division of Fuel Marketing (CUPET) basic business unit, informed 26 that they began supplying fuel to the generators operating at the power generation stations in the municipalities of Puerto Padre and Manatí this Wednesday.

"For Thursday, with the improvement in weather conditions, CUPET plans to distribute fuel to priority health centers, as well as other sectors of the economy and food production. Logistical support will also be provided to the brigades mobilizing with equipment to assist the most affected eastern provinces," concluded the director.

On the other hand, one of the biggest population concerns after an event of this nature is access to drinking water. In this regard, David Legrá Hernández, director of the Las Tunas Water and Sewerage UEB (Basic Business Unit), offered details of the plan for Las Tunas City.

"We are starting up the El Rincón pumping station to supply the city while the electrical service stabilizes. With this measure, we will have a stable water supply, although there will be less pumping, but we will have the service."

This action is a temporary solution while the rest of the pumping stations in the territory, which do depend on the service provided by the Electric Company, are restored.

Both strategies aim to normalize the lives of the population in the shortest possible time, prioritizing basic needs and key sectors for the reactivation of the local economy.
