Veterinary clinic will contribute to animal welfare

Sustained work foresees the completion of an equipped veterinary clinic in the city of Las Tunas for next month, which will contribute to better care for affectionate and wild animals, veterinarian Dr. Yanel Nápoles Pérez confirmed.

Located in the Pena district, the unit that is being rebuilt is part of a recovery program for the facilities where medical care is provided to animals. It will have the basic parameters that these consultations require; therefore, it also reinforces animal protection in the territory, whether they are companion, productive or work species, "which are treated by the same because animal welfare is an integrating concept,” the animal health worker explained.

Veterinarian Dr. Yanel Nápoles PérezThe clinic consists of several premises, “among them are the consultations, an emergency clinical laboratory, an operating room and several admission rooms. Likewise, as a novelty, we designed a section for the care of those affectionate animals that their owners want to travel or go on vacation and want to leave with us for their care,” the doctor pointed out.

The remodeling includes a place for bathing animals with skin diseases and other administrative buildings such as offices. A meeting room is planned, which apart from its usual functions, will serve as a specialized classroom for the training of Veterinary professionals and care workshops will be given to the population and producers who wish to do so.

As a distinctive sign, Nápoles Pérez emphasizes that the center also has a specialized pharmacy with products from the Pharmaceutical Biological Laboratories Company (LABIOFAM), in addition to others of importance for the correct management and protection of the species.

According to the specialist, another of the clinic's intentions is to care for rescued animals. “We treat them to make them healthy and then they will go into an adoption system. We know many people who are interested in staying with stranded animals, but they did not have the way to heal them.”

At the moment, the work is almost finished, which has the support of several organizations involved in the Agriculture system in the province and other entities in charge of equipping it for a good operation.
