Small Farmers Association recognizes outstanding farmers and workers

Some 70 peasants, leaders, and workers from the provincial and municipal headquarters of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in Las Tunas were granted the José Ramírez Cruz Commemorative Seal, one of the most important incentives established by the organization.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This recognition is delivered to people with an extensive curriculum of dedication to the peasant sector, and exalts the figure of its first president, as Michel Peña Infante, a member of the Provincial Bureau, explained.

Some 690 Commemorative Seals "60 Aniversario de la ANAP" are also delivered to workers with 25 or 30 years of permanence, and managers for more than a decade.

Among those honored is Oneida Cruz Rodríguez, a worker at the organization's provincial headquarters, who is proud to wear the José Ramírez Cruz Seal on her chest. “Pepe was the first president; furthermore, I have worked in the ANAP all my life; and in all responsibilities, I have maintained a behavior according to the principles of the revolutionary process. I am part of that commitment of the peasants to work and produce for our people.”

Another of those recognized is Josefa Proenza Guerra, secretary of the ANAP presidency here. “I started at ANAP when Pepe was still president, and this means a great commitment. I have already received other decorations, but this one is in my heart. “It commits me to continue promoting tasks and doing a better job every day. The ANAP can continue to count on me for whatever it is, even though I am almost of retirement age.”

Historically, the peasants of Las Tunas have starred in the production of food since between 70 and 80 percent of what is collected in the territory comes out of their hands, both in livestock and various crops. According to Peña Infante, "the doctors have been in the red zone fighting COVID-19, and the peasants remain in the green zone guaranteeing food for the people."
