Fishing boats are being protected in as Tunas

In the midst of a critical epidemiological situation, the conditions are being prepared in Las Tunas so that the passage of the Elsa atmospheric phenomenon causes the least possible impact. In particular, the Las Tunas Fishing Company (PESCATUN), implements its plan of measures.

Mario Sedeño, PESCATUN directorLas Tunas, Cuba.- Mario Sedeño Viamontes, director-general of PESCATUN, commented that “long before the information phase for the territory was declared, the strategy for the safeguarding of human lives was put into practice, fundamentally, and no longer any fisherman belonging to the entity is in the sea.”

The protection of warehouses that have fiber and zinc roofs, the safe parking of boats in their shelters, and the protection of all food at appropriate places are some of the tasks carried out in the face of the possible impact of the cyclonic organism Elsa, as it passes through the territory of Las Tunas.

"At this time, the roadblocks that had been set up to capture the blue runner, a capture that began this month, were collected and will not be reassembled until weather conditions permit it," Sedeño Viamontes reported.

Other actions are developed from the Aquaculture Program. "All the ponds and dams that present optimal species for their commercialization are being captured and, in correspondence with the indications of the Defense Council in the province, they will be destined for the feeding of the people", the manager emphasized.

On the other hand, the products of the industry are protected in refrigerators and others were transferred in refrigerated containers to suitable places.

Meanwhile, the teams from the fishing areas are in safe places and the capture of all species will be resumed after Elsa's passage.

The top management of PESCATUN is speeding up the new tasks, as the province could quickly go into the alarm phase, taking into account the trajectory of Elsa.
