Non-compliance in milk collection

Only 16 million 911 500 liters of milk were produced in the province of Las Tunas until November 30; so that, the plan of this year - 24 million 206 600 liters - will not be fulfilled.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Many reasons caused this remarkable decrease in the collection of the product; among them, the lack of medications for veterinary use, the insufficient availability of animal food, the inadequate handling of some flocks, the drought, and the demotivation of the producers.

Fortunately, since last month, new prices came into force to stimulate the delivery of this food to the industry, and, now, the highest-quality milk is valued at 20 pesos per liter, while the lower-density is quoted to five pesos.

The carrying to the collection point is also paid and an economic compensation is contemplated when the Dairy Company does not come for the milk. Even when the tests are not done, the highest rate is paid.

Until the eleven-month of 2021, the agricultural companies of Las Tunas and Jesús Menéndez do not comply with their delivery plans; in the case of the Agricultural Comprehensive Company, only the basic business units of the Amancio and Colombia municipalities exceed their commitments.

At the end of November, the existence of bovine cattle in the province is 247 thousand 035 heads. But only some 160,600 are females, between calves, heifers, and cows. The increase of the mass remains a challenge.

Precisely, that is an objective of the Las Tunas ranchers by the year 2022, which will result in better productive indicators of milk and beef, very necessary lines at this time of economic crisis on an international scale by the pandemic of the COVID-19.
