Cuba's 4x400 mixed relay, runner-up in "San Salvador 2023."

Sprinter Yoandys Lescay added the sixth medal for Las Tunas at the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, by integrating the mixed 4x400 relay, runner-up on the track of the Jorge "El Mágico" González Stadium.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Lescay ran the third section of the event and held on as best he could against the push of the favorite team from Quisqueya, which had achieved a decisive advantage from the very beginning of the race.

The Dominican Republic, a world elite relay, won the gold with a time of three minutes, 14 seconds, and 81 hundredths, ahead of Cuba (3:16.97) and Colombia (3:20 36).

For the Island, Leonardo Castillo began the competition, who gave up too much space to Alexander Ogando and made it almost impossible for Roxana Gómez, Lescay, and Lisneydis Veitía to close the gap in each of the laps around the track.

Before, baseball player Carlos Juan Viera and the pentathlete Marcos Antonio Rojas had won silver medals; while in that discipline Diana Leyva hung a pair of bronzes. Also on Monday, archer Juan José Santiesteban finished third in the recurve bow team event.

The main options to reach a title are, for the reduced Las Tunas delegation, in both field hockey teams and the women's softball.
