Closer cooperation between China and Germany would be a factor of stability in the turbulent world situationCloser cooperation between China and Germany would be a factor of stability in the turbulent world situation and would greatly benefit the rest of the nations of Europe, local observers agreed.

Beijing.- Analyzing the implications of the upcoming visit here of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, several experts interviewed by the Global Times stressed the economic weight of both countries and the positive impact they would generate if they opt for joining forces instead of decoupling.

They regretted that the current reconfiguration of Berlin’s trade policy towards Russia is surrounded by the opinions of radical sectors, opposed to further progress in trade and advocating a reduction in dependence on this market.

They also criticized the ideological campaign against Scholz’s trip here and the proposal of the Chinese company COSCO to manage one of the container terminals of the port of Hamburg, the largest in Europe.

The chancellor’s detractors are pressing him not to "bow down" to Beijing during his visit and see in the negotiation of the port an alleged threat to the security of commercial information and the possibility of China using it to ‘encircle’ and ‘blackmail’ Europe if it were to go to war with the United States.

According to the German Executive, the Federal Chancellor and a delegation of businessmen will be in China at the beginning of November.

At the moment China has not yet confirmed the trip but has always called for the promotion of relations of mutual respect, shared benefit, and greater cooperation with Germany and the other states of the European Union. (PL)
