2025 Las Tunas Cultural Day

The 2025 Las Tunas Cultural Day is held from September 23 to 30. This year, it pays tribute to Major General Vicente García González, the city's birthday, the 149th anniversary of its burning by the Mambises, and the centennial of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Las Tunas, Cuba._ This Tuesday, at the opening ceremony held in Vicente García Park, the people of Las Tunas paid homage to the Balcón de Oriente, the Lion of Santa Rita, and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, through fervent words and performances by artists such as soloists Jesús Ricardo Pérez Cecilia, Dalía Macayo, José Fidel Sánchez, and the reciter Maike Machado, among others. The Provincial Concert Band also accompanied the solemn activity, with the attendance of Darlenis Urquiela, Provincial Director of Culture, and other government and sector officials.

Various activities are planned, including a workshop on "Best Practices for Preserving the Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage,” which will be held this Wednesday at the Vicente García Memorial Museum; a conference on Haitian dances, which will be held at the El Cucalambé Professional Art School; as well as community and children's activities, among other initiatives.

Particularly notable on the agenda is the traditional commemoration of the city's burning, followed by a political and cultural vigil in honor of the 149th anniversary of that historic event, at the José Martí Plaza, on the evening of September 26th; and a gala for the anniversary of the city's founding, on the 30th at the Tunas Theater.
