
More than 27,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Las Tunas, and 15 percent of the at-risk population has received the booster dose, which is intended to be administered at this time of high prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI).
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Jhoannys Diéguez Peña, head of the Provincial Nursing Department, told the press that the vaccine is currently being administered to people over 65 years, pregnant women, mothers with children under two years of age, infants with cystic fibrosis, HIV patients, medical students, and high-risk personnel in the health sector.
She also assured that people living in social institutions such as nursing homes, maternity wards, and psycho-pedagogical centers, as well as workers whose health conditions require protection, are being immunized.
Diéguez Peña added that the province has well-equipped vaccination centers with highly qualified personnel, and that strict monitoring of those who receive the vaccines is a protocol.
