Food production is a priority.

Food production is emerging as the main program of the Directorate of Strategic Management of Territorial Development in Las Tunas for 2023, with some 27 projects aimed at increasing it in all municipalities of this eastern province.

In the last 90 years, 17 hurricanes hit Las Tunas territory.

Its location in extensive plains and protection by the mountain ranges of eastern Cuba have been some of the keys for Las Tunas to have had the threat of hurricanes of different intensity but with few devastating impacts.

While in the markets and points of sale, the prices challenge the force of gravity, as well as the products are scarce, even disappearing from the family plate, two neighbors of Juanito Mora Street, in Puerto Padre, have productive hands in front of the treasure of the land. 

The cooperative's main activity is cattle farming

The integral performance in the attention to cattle and small livestock was the main argument for the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Credit and Service Cooperative (CCS), in Las Tunas, to receive the Award for Productive Excellence, granted by the Cuban Association for Animal Production (ACPA).

Conditions are favorable for the ocurrence of rains these days

At this time of the year, the Villa Azul (Blue Village) wears different shades of gray due to the weather. Wet streets, dragging dirt and other debris, puddles, and a sea of little tranquility make up the urban landscape of Puerto Padre. Meanwhile, daily controversies revolve around how much longer such a situation can continue or if it is beneficial for food production, even those with more experience search their memories for similar events in the past.
