South Korea on Saturday welcomed the announcement of the second Summit between the presidents of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States in February, and wished the two countries to foster permanent peace on the peninsula.

Seoul.- According to Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom, Seoul expects the upcoming meeting between North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump to be a new starting point, so it will cooperate with Pyongyang and Washington to guarantee its success.

"South Korea will not spare efforts for the second summit between Kim and Trump to have fruitful results," the spokesman noted.

The White House announced the meeting between the two leaders for late February and promised to reveal more details about the venue and exact date.

So far, there are rumors that the Vietnamese city of Danang or Thailand are the candidates to host the summit, which will be "specific and practical," according to the White House. (PL)
